Osmosis

I learn through osmosis.
One definition: the process
of gradual or unconscious
assimilation of ideas
and knowledge and I feel
this deep within me
all literary ideology
absorbed into the very
heart of me shaping
all that I am and all
I will become. I believe
we are better for listening
for learning and growing
and knowing more than
we did before—a change
of self, complimenting who
we were before. I have
absorbed more knowledge
in the past few years than
I have in my life so far
or so it feels but maybe,
just maybe, it’s because
I finally understand
it’s not just me who makes
me who I am, it’s everyone
I’ve ever known, allowing
osmosis to occur. I am all
of them at once.
