These chains are getting heavy,
weighty reminders of years gone by,
I don’t seem strong enough to be rid of them,
no matter how hard I try.
I tackle them, one link at a time,
an endless battle I always fight with grace,
but no sooner have I overcome one,
than another is created in its place.
I long for freedom, from these binds of society,
preconceived ideas and restrictions,
none of which apply to me,
so why do I allow them this jurisdiction?
Oh, these chains are getting heavy,
weighty reminders of years to come,
if I don’t find the strength to be rid of them,
they’ll define me and I can’t let that happen.
You can do it. Stay strong! 🙂 Nice poem.
