Patience

Whilst you may feel safe in daylight, the sun your saviour, shining down on you

For me the shadows are my haven, the dark recesses offer me solitude

So as you wander through your day, your heart aglow with summers’ warm embrace

Know I await you, patiently, within this dark and hellish place.

Do you know how much I want you, I’m sure you saw me yesterday

A fleeting glace in my direction, before you quickly looked away

There’s plenty time for you to realise, how much I truly yearn for you

For when we finally do meet, you’ll bid your sunny days adieu.

Into my darkness I will take you, along with everything you are

You may despise me yet can’t resist me, I’ll be the strongest addiction you’ve felt so far

So as I wait here patiently, in the shadows where I know that I belong

I’ll let you spend your final days in the sun, before I take you for my own.
