A quiet part of town …

The streets are silent, which is nothing new.
We live in a quiet part of town
which has its benefits, I guess
but on a night like tonight
I’d give anything to feel
like there was life out there.
A sign that I am not alone.
But there is nothing, as usual—
no traffic, no people,
no distractions from thoughts
of isolation.
