Silent Departure

Time stood still, that fateful day,
as the tears blurred my vision,
watching you walk away. Every
fibre of my being, begging you
to stay but the words sticking
in my throat, unable to convey.
I need you, I love you, I don’t
want you to go.  Yet, my silence
was deafening, telling you all
you needed to know.
