The Plea of the Dead

Screams echo in the dead of night,
agonising cries, from terror and fright.
Can no-one hear this horrifying sound?
It’s deafening, petrifying, reverberating all around.   
She can’t ignore the plea of the dead,
even though she’s filled with dread.
She feels their calling, experiences their pain,
so off she goes into the darkness, again.
