Broken Pieces

a - broken pieces.jpg

Broken pieces, sharp edges and complications,
Each one unyielding,
Misshapen by mistrust.

Shouldn’t fit together, hesitant to try,
Yet drawn to one another,
Not sure why.

Initially resistant, determined to remain distant,
Protected by pain,
Reluctant to try again.

Then slowly, edges smooth,
Accommodate to fit, creating new grooves,
To fit each other’s awkwardness.

The beauty of understanding,
Not demanding, completely recognising,
Each other.

A new chapter begins, future uncertain,
Each one hopeful, yet concerned,
Consideration, the way forward.

Learning to love again, in a new form,
Shaped by the past, healed and reborn,
Ready to start anew.
