Measured Heartbeats

a - measured heartbeats

Measured heartbeats, pass the time,
No longer counting on you,
These are all mine.
Too many nights, wasted alone,
Finally realising, now that you’re gone,
You didn’t deserve them.
So, every beat is now appreciated,
Never taken for granted, or neglected,
Like you used to.
I hope one day, your heart understands,
The pain inflicted from being let down,
And you learn from it.
Because I know I have.
