Why do we allow, the articles of today
To control how we feel, about ourselves in every way
It matters not to them, whether someone is beautiful and kind
They’ll still find a way, to make them feel awful inside.
How often do we read, about how someone has lost their way
Yet sensationalist headlines, rip them apart with dismay
How they have “let themselves go” or “gained another 20 pounds”
All this teaches us is, how to be glad of another’s demise.
It makes me so very angry, that we now live in a world
Where rather than celebrating our fellow humans, we prefer to trample them into the ground
Don’t get caught up in this madness, of constant judgement and shame
Instead stay away from this poison, find a more humane way.
If we show we are united as people, love one another with care
Rejoicing successes together, or helping others find their way
We’ll then evolve into the type of humans, we should all be wanting to be
Let’s step away from the habit, of picking apart all that we see.
